A powerful sequence of two massive earthquakes hit Venezuela within minutes of each other, leaving a trail of severe destruction across the capital city of Caracas and neighboring regions. The intense tremors led to the collapse of numerous high-rise structures and residential homes, forcing panicked citizens to evacuate into public spaces in fear of further seismic activity.
The epicenters of both earthquakes were registered west of Caracas, a densely populated metropolitan area home to approximately 5 million residents. Following the initial shocks, local streets became overcrowded with people desperately attempting to contact family members or search for updates amidst disrupted communication networks.
As darkness fell, thousands of displaced residents converted open streets and public squares into temporary campsites. Due to the high risk of volatile aftershocks, majorities of the population chose to spend the night outdoors rather than returning to potentially compromised buildings.
