Iran Warns Lebanon is a ‘Red Line’ After Trump Rebukes Israel Over Beirut Strikes

TEHRAN — Iran’s top security official issued a stern warning on Sunday, declaring that Lebanon is central to Tehran’s regional posture and that any breach of the Islamic Republic’s “red lines” will face severe consequences.

Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, took to social media platform X to emphasize the deep strategic ties in the region. “The unity of the fronts has created a security chain in defense of the region,” Zolghadr wrote. He added firmly, “Lebanon is our lifeblood, and any violation of the Islamic Republic’s red lines will not be tolerated.”

These heavy remarks from Tehran came shortly after US President Donald Trump publicly urged Israel to halt its military operations in Lebanon, as Washington and Iran actively negotiate a historic memorandum of understanding to end the war.

Taking to Truth Social, President Trump openly criticized the recent military actions, writing: “This morning’s attack on Beirut should not have happened. Particularly on a special day when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran.”

Furthermore, in exclusive comments made to Axios, Trump sharply rebuked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the Beirut airstrikes. Despite the sudden escalation and the diverging narratives, Trump confirmed that the high-stakes signing of the diplomatic memorandum with Iran remains firmly on track for later Sunday.
